United Way UK was founded in 2014 to build on United Way’s work in Liverpool, where it has been working with local community groups for nearly 30 years. United Way UK seeks to have a national impact by working with local communities and across all sectors, partnering with United Way branches in London and Liverpool. In 2015-2016, United Way UK is focusing its programming on education and will launch an initiative to promote literacy in primary school-aged children across the UK.

Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services (LCVS) was established in Liverpool in 1909 and became a United Way in 2010. For over 100 years, LCVS | United Way has been the strategic support organization for donors and the non-profit sector in Liverpool and one of the largest distributors of funds in the North West of England. LCVS | United Way has developed, implemented, and taken part in a number of successful community impact programs, such as “Play Partnership,” an initiative designed to give children in Liverpool a space and tools to play. In 2013 the Play Partnership was able to deliver 58 play schemes with 2,000 children per day taking part.
